Copperwood

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This small tree grows up to 5 meters (16.4 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 101 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in hard, wrinkled, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the hard wood is silver.

The branches trail down to the ground and are covered with sparse amounts of covered in fine hairs, small, perforated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are grey with dark grey tips.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of medium-sized, bronze blossoms with spear shaped petals. They fall easily and have the faintest scent that smells like fermented fruit.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, light brown berries.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It usually houses a colony of beneficial insects.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
The sap causes severe rashes
