Mahogany

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This enormous tree grows up to 126 meters (413.4 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 160 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a slender, wavy trunk covered in hard, waxy, brown-green bark, and inside, the very hard wood is mahogany-coloured.

The numerous branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with very large amounts of clammy, small, wispy leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of lime green that gradient shifts to turquoise at the top.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of small, slate blossoms with spear shaped petals with a tube-like floral cup. They fall easily and have a mildly strong scent that smells like warm milk.

In late summer it forms small, blood red, winged seeds that float and land far away.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
