Indigo

Flower type: Perennial (Stores water in its leaves)

This average-sized flower grows up to 1.8 feet (56 cm) tall. Its indigo stem is thin and straight, and the huge, emerald leaves are light brown on the underside and are very thin with tattered edges. 5 leaves grow at the base of the stem.

6 to 11 medium-sized flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 37 cm (14.6 inches) wide, with alternating petals of ashy blue and pink, with a crimson central disk. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 20 curved petals. They are very delicate.

It has a strong scent that smells like rotten eggs, and it has copious amounts of pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects and is particularly attractive to bees.
