Aquamarine Dishflower

This massive flower grows up to 11.9 feet (3.6 meters) tall. Its green stem is thick and straight with a curved tip, and the tiny, cyan or violet leaves are 9 pointed with rounded edges. 8 leaves grow at the base of the stem.

A single large flower sits at the end of each stem. The flowers are 38 cm (15.0 inches) wide, with aquamarine petals and a yellow center. The flower head is shaped like a dish made up of dozens of tightly layered, narrow petals. They are very delicate.

It has an overpowering scent that smells like blood, and it has excessive amounts of pollen. It is pollinated by the wind, but is also particularly attractive to butterflies.
