Caramelvine
Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This massive tree grows up to 92 meters (301.9 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 167 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.
It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in fine, knobbly, yellow bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is pale brown.
The branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with handfuls of clammy, giant, very narrow and elongated leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are generally caramel.
In early spring, it produces handfuls of giant, blood red blossoms with stiff, pointed petals. They detach easily and have an intensely strong scent that smells like ashes.
In late summer it forms medium-sized, caramel aril (seeds with fleshy covers).
The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.
Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.
It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
It is suitable for making strong rope
It can absorb up to 17 times its own weight in water.
