Burgundyfern

Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This modest-sized tree grows up to 7 meters (23.0 feet) tall and lives "forever", with many known specimens being tens of thousands of years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, curved trunk covered in very thick, silky, burgundy bark, and inside, the very hard wood is white.

The branches are very long and thick, covered with copious amounts of huge, red needles. The needles themselves are frail.

In late summer it produces small, hazel, winged seeds that float and land far away.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
