Silverfir
Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This modest-sized tree grows up to 39 meters (128.0 feet) tall and lives for over 2,000 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 2505 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.
It has a sturdy, straight trunk covered in paper-thin, knobbly, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the very light wood is silver.
The tangled mess of branches trail down across the ground, covered with handfuls of tiny, emerald needles. The needles themselves are resistant.
In late summer it produces giant, sky blue aril (seeds with fleshy covers).
The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.
Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
