Blackpine
Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)This small tree grows up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) tall and lives for over 1,000 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 1967 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.
It has a wide, curved trunk covered in cracked, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the very dense wood is gray.
The branches are short stubs, covered with small amounts of miniature, green needles. The needles themselves are flexible.
In late summer it produces giant, black, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.
The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
