Violet Succulent
Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)This small leaf succulent grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall. The very narrow, elongated stem is yellow, and is dotted with small orange spines. The lumpy leaves are either violet, or lilac with red edges. Small amounts of them grow on wide, gray branches that are tall, rigid and upright. The leaves are delicate, and do not detach easily.
It is slow growing, taking 49 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with petals that are generally lime; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour, grow at the top, reappearing after 5 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a dish with 28 tightly layered, narrow petals. It has a strong scent that smells like lemon.
The leaf succulent's skin is very thick, the bold orange flesh is rubbery, and the silver sap is thin and has hallucinogenic properties.
