Crimson Tree
Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This large tree grows up to 64 meters (210.0 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 109 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a flexible, straight trunk covered in hard, waxy, pine-coloured bark, and inside, the very hard wood is black with white speckles.
The branches are short stubs and are covered with copious amounts of waxy, large, fan-like leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are found in crimson, washed-out yellow and grey varieties.
In early spring, it produces many giant, beige blossoms with 8 teardrop-shaped shaped petals. They are hardy and have a strong scent that smells like chocolate.
In late summer it forms small, vibrant yellow, tough-shelled seeds.
The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
