Blackbark

Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This modest-sized tree grows up to 36 meters (118.1 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 291 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, angular trunk covered in delicate, smooth, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the hard wood is mahogany-coloured.

The branches are long and thin, with hundreds of twigs covered with very large amounts of tiny, gray-green needles. The needles themselves are flimsy.

In late summer it produces tiny, orange seed pods.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It is suitable for making strong rope
