Purple Fruit Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 48 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.
It has a very thick, slanted trunk covered in smooth, black bark, and inside, the very light wood is pine-coloured.
The small handful of branches are short stubs and are covered with sparse amounts of giant, sickle shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are bold purple on the edges and pink at the center.
In early spring, it produces lots of small, slate blossoms with wide petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like bonfire smoke.
In early winter it produces , long, narrow fruit. The smooth yellow skin is stretchy and edible when roasted; it is salty, and the very soft magenta flesh is savoury and dry. The pale yellow seed is very large and sits at the top of the fruit.
The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.
It is said to be able to live for hundreds of years.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
