Skyfruit Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 42 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, straight trunk covered in thin, rough, mahogany-coloured bark, and inside, the very light wood is brown.

The branches are very long and slender and are covered with thick bunches of huge, spear shaped leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are bronze and sky blue.

In early spring, it produces lots of large, beige blossoms with needle-like petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a soft scent that smells like mint.

In mid-summer it produces tiny, broad, flat fruit. The crispy cyan skin is peel-able and edible when boiled; it is very salty, and the crunchy bold green flesh is salty and powdery. The lime seeds are small and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.
