Copperwood

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This short tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 86 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in hard, waxy, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the soft wood is pine-coloured.

The excessive amount of branches are long and thin and are covered with small bunches of waxy, giant, thin leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of copper or lime that gradient shifts to brown at the top.

In early spring, it produces many tiny, pale green blossoms with heart-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a weak scent that smells like old shoes.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, green, shelled seeds.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
