Copperfruit

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This large fruit tree grows up to 33 feet (10.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 50 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in wrinkled, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the hard wood is copper-coloured.

The tangled mess of branches are short stubs and are covered with thick bunches of giant, thick leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are generally slate.

In early spring, it produces lots of medium-sized, yellow blossoms with circular petals. They are very delicate and have an overpowering scent that smells like lavender.

In early autumn it produces tiny, V-shaped fruit. The soft blood red skin is delicate and edible when roasted; it is sweet and salty, and the very soft bronze flesh is sweet and sour and juicy. The silver seed is very large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is suitable for use as a construction material
It is almost impossible to grow indoors.
