Copperiris

Flower type: Annual (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.3 feet (38 cm) tall. Its olive stem is very thin and splits into several branching stems a quarter of the way up, and the small, copper leaves are sickle shaped with smooth edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from the base up to about halfway.

Hundreds of giant flowers grow along the length of the stem. The flowers are 4 cm (1.6 inches) wide, with aquamarine petals that gradient shift to amber on the outer edge. The central disk is crimson. The flower head is shaped like a bowl with 37 tightly layered, narrow petals. They detach easily.

It has a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like perfume, and it has copious amounts of pollen, but it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird and is ignored by most insect species.

It is almost impossible to grow from cuttings.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
