Burgundy Pleated Petal

Flower type: Annual (Sheds its leaves in winter)

This short flower grows up to 4 inches (10 cm) tall. Its red stem is very thick, and the small, burgundy leaves are light green and cream on the underside and are pleated with serrated edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

Several small flowers grow in a bunch at the end of the stem. The flowers are 1 cm (0.4 inches) wide, with light brown petals on the lower layer and lilac petals decorated with cyan dots on the inner layer. The central disk is pastel yellow. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 60 curved petals. They fall easily.

It has a powerful scent that smells like burning wood, and it has very little pollen. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also particularly attractive to butterflies.

It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
It is suitable for making paper
