Burgundy

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This average-sized tree grows up to 24 meters (78.7 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 469 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, wonky trunk covered in very thick, waxy, light brown bark, and inside, the hard wood is burgundy.

The branches trail down to the ground and are covered with thick bunches of sticky, giant, wide leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are found in peach, gold and purple varieties.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of giant, purple blossoms with 6 flame-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have an overpowering scent that smells like petrol.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, green, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.
