Clinging Willow
Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)This large tree grows up to 77 meters (252.6 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 207 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.
It has a sturdy, straight trunk covered in hard, smooth, gray bark, and inside, the soft wood is yellow-brown.
The small bunches of branches are short stubs and are covered with handfuls of rough, tiny, stiff, pointed leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are black and yellow.
In early spring, it produces thick bunches of small, copper blossoms with slender, pointed petals with a tube-like floral cup. They fall easily and have a delicate scent that smells like leather.
In late summer it forms large, yellow, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.
The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.
The sap is grey.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
