Clingvine Oak

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This short tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 556 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, curved trunk covered in paper-thin, waxy, dark green bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is brown.

The sparse amount of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with small amounts of crispy, huge, pleated leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are black and azure.

In early spring, it produces many bunches of tiny, muted yellow blossoms with needle-like petals. They are very delicate and have a delicate scent that smells like something putrid.

In late summer it forms tiny, black berries.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
