Amberthorn

Flower type: Perennial (Stores water in its leaves)

This short flower grows up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. Its amber stems grow from the base of the plant in bunches of 6 and are very thin and straight, and split into dozens of branching stems three quarters of the way up, and the miniature, red leaves are stiff, pointed with rounded edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and a pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.

Many tiny flowers grow along the length of the stem. The flowers are 3 cm (1.2 inches) wide, with each petal a slightly different shade of pastel yellow. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 54 curved petals. They fall easily.

It has a scent that varies in strength that smells like honeysuckle, and it has very little pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator, but is also visited by a variety of insects.
