Bloodblossom Tree
Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This large tree grows up to 88 meters (288.7 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 555 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a wide, angular trunk covered in waxy, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the very dense wood is pale yellow.
The branches are very long and slender and are covered with small amounts of smooth, giant, thin leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are generally grey.
In early spring, it produces copious amounts of small, lilac blossoms with wide petals. They are hardy and have an overpowering scent that smells like paint.
In late summer it forms large, blood red, tough-shelled seeds.
The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.
Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.
