Indigo Spirewood

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This average-sized tree grows up to 43 meters (141.1 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 462 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a stocky, straight trunk covered in cracked, pine-coloured bark, and inside, the very hard wood is burgundy-brown.

The abundance of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with very large amounts of rough, giant, broad, flat leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are solid indigo with indigo edges.

In late summer it forms small, yellow, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It makes a distinctive sound when the wind blows through it.
