Gnarled Turquoisefruit

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This short fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 40 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, wonky trunk covered in thin, cracked, silver and white bark, and inside, the very hard wood is yellow.

The small bunches of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with sparse amounts of tiny, very thick leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of yellow-green that gradient shifts to bronze at the top.

In early spring, it produces dozens of giant, blue blossoms with crescent-shaped shaped petals. They are hardy and have a weak scent that smells like rotten egg.

In early autumn it produces tiny, stiff, pointed fruit. The crispy turquoise skin is peel-able and sweet and spicy, and the slightly crunchy grey flesh is sweet and oily. The bronze seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
