Copperwood
Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)This small tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 487 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a narrow, curved trunk covered in cracked, dark green bark, and inside, the flexible wood is copper-coloured.
The branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with small amounts of leathery, small, thin leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are pastel purple and red.
In late summer it forms tiny, sky blue berries.
The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
