Clinging Heartflower

Flower type: Annual (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This average-sized flower grows up to 1.7 feet (51 cm) tall. Its yellow-green stem is thick and straight, and the huge, green leaves are wispy with irregular edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.

A single medium-sized flower sits at the end of each stem. The flowers are 34 cm (13.4 inches) wide, with solid brown petals and a pink central disk. The flower head is shaped like a heart made up of many tightly layered, round-tipped petals. They are very delicate.

It has a mildly strong scent that smells like rich perfume, and it has lots of pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator, but is enjoyed by several specific types of insect.
