Silversilk Tree

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This giant tree grows up to 100 meters (328.1 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 142 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a flexible, curved trunk covered in fine, silky, light gray bark, and inside, the very hard wood is pale yellow.

The sparse amount of branches are short and slender and are covered with very large amounts of crispy, small, long, tapering leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are found in green, light grey and lime varieties.

In early spring, it produces dozens of giant, brown blossoms with crescent-shaped shaped petals. They fall easily and have a weak scent that smells like cotton.

In late summer it forms large, yellow seed pods.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

The stems are covered in large spikes.
It is suitable for making paper
