Copperwood
Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)This small tree grows up to 6 meters (19.7 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 227 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a knobbly, angular trunk covered in silky, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the very light wood is silver.
The branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with large amounts of smooth, huge, slender, pointed leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are solid blue or dark brown, with caramel dots.
In late summer it forms small, turquoise aril (seeds with fleshy covers).
The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
It can grow in even the most barren lands.
