Coilwood
Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This modest-sized tree grows up to 11 meters (36.1 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 237 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a branched, angular trunk covered in paper-thin, silky, mahogany-coloured bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is burgundy.
The sparse amount of branches are very long and thick and are covered with large amounts of sticky, giant, sickle shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either silver, or light red with sky blue patches.
In late summer it forms small, grey, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.
The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
The stems are covered in large spikes.
