Copperwood
Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This big tree grows up to 64 meters (210.0 feet) tall and lives for over 1,000 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 1221 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a very thick, straight trunk covered in fine, wrinkled, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the dense wood is gray.
The extensive patches of branches are long, thin and wispy, with hundreds of twigs covered with large amounts of tiny, gray-green needles. The needles themselves are frail.
In late summer it produces large, vivid green, winged seeds that float and land far away.
The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
Their seeds have hallucinogenic properties.
