Knobwood Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This small fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 17 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, straight trunk covered in knobbly, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the dense wood is copper-coloured.

The branches are short stubs and are covered with large amounts of huge, wide leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in green, green and green varieties.

In early spring, it produces a handful of medium-sized, dark grey blossoms with finger-like petals. They are very delicate and have a delicate scent that smells like rainy days.

In mid-summer it produces tiny, broad, flat fruit. The sticky lime skin is tough and inedible, and the crunchy red flesh is bitter and salty and dry. The olive seeds are tiny and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.
