Thornspire Succulent

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This modest-sized caudiciform grows up to 36 feet (11.0 meters) tall. The spear shaped stem is yellow, and is covered in hundreds of rigid copper spines. It has a wavy, thick, gnarled, white trunk atop a thick, gnarled web of silky, exposed roots. The branches are bulbous and burgundy and trail down across the ground.

The serrated-edged, wide leaves are found in washed-out green and white varieties. They are sturdy, but take little effort to detach.

It is steady-growing, taking 3 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with alternating petals of bold yellow and lilac, with a lilac central disk, grow at the top, reappearing once every 5 years. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 16 petals. It has a soft scent that smells like old books.

The caudiciform's skin is thin, the lime flesh is waxy, and the blue sap is thin.
