Copper Starflower

This massive flower grows up to 15.3 feet (4.6 meters) tall. Its copper stem is very thick and splits into 9 branching stems at the top, and the giant, caramel leaves are grey on the underside and are asymmetrical with toothed edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from the base up to about halfway.

Two small flowers sit at the end of the stem. The flowers are 65 cm (25.6 inches) wide, with petals that are white on the underside and copper on the top. The flower head is shaped like a star with 11 raised, round-tipped petals. They detach easily.

It has a weak scent that smells like chocolate, and it has lots of pollen,but it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator, but is also visited by one species of insect in particular.
