Spiny Bloodleaf
Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This small caudiciform grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall. The narrow stem is dark brown or violet, and is covered in brittle red spines. The twisting, light brown trunk can grow to as much as 2 feet (61.0 cm) in diameter in the middle. Its copper branches are very long and thick and start growing at the base the stem.
The large amounts of irregular-edged, circular leaves are a shade of green that gradient shifts to blood red at the top. They are flimsy, but are very difficult to pull away.
It is very fast growing, taking 2 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with alternating petals of cyan and vibrant green, with an azure central disk, grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 39 curved petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like a man.
The caudiciform's skin is tough, the gold flesh is waxy, and the copper sap is thin and has hallucinogenic properties.
It can survive a very long time without water.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
It coexists peacefully with other plants.
It comes in 14 varieties, each with a different leaf colour.
