Clinging Burgundy Tree

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This short tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 91 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, straight trunk covered in thin, smooth, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the dense wood is burgundy.

The branches are long and slender and are covered with small bunches of leathery, large, sickle shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of pink-red that gradient shifts to bronze at the top.

In early spring, it produces lots of large, faded purple blossoms with sickle shaped petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a strong scent that smells like fermented fruit.

In late summer it forms tiny, black, winged seeds that float and land far away.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.
