Blackwood Maple

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This huge tree grows up to 132 meters (433.1 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 479 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in hard, knobbly, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the dense wood is black.

The tangled mess of branches are long and thick and are covered with large amounts of crispy, tiny, oblong leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are found in bronze, bronze and dark brown varieties.

In late summer it forms large, hazel, winged seeds that float and land far away.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.

It is suitable for making strong rope
