Climbing Willow
Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)This modest-sized tree grows up to 44 meters (144.4 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 168 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a branched, slanted trunk covered in delicate, waxy, brown-green bark, and inside, the dense wood is yellow.
The small handful of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with large amounts of smooth, huge, spear shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are olive at the bottom and sky blue with amber edges at the top.
In early spring, it produces dozens of small, olive blossoms with 6 crescent-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have a strong scent that smells like a damp log.
In late summer it forms medium-sized, deep green, tough-shelled seeds.
The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
