Clambering Yellowwood

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This small tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 100 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, straight trunk covered in hard, ridged, yellow bark, and inside, the soft wood is yellow.

The small handful of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with very large amounts of clammy, large, long, narrow leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are white and azure.

In late summer it forms giant, caramel, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if it falls or if its limbs are knocked off.
It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
