Burgundy Water Lily

Flower type: Perennial (Stores water in its leaves)

This average-sized flower grows up to 1.5 feet (46 cm) tall. Its burgundy stems grow from the base of the plant in bunches of 4 and are very thin and straight, and split into many branching stems at the top, and the huge, yellow-green leaves are broad, flat with jagged edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

A single tiny flower sits at the end of each stem. The flowers are 6 cm (2.4 inches) wide, with green petals and a yellow center. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 11 curved petals. They detach easily.

It has a soft scent that smells like coconut, and it has very little pollen. It is pollinated by insects , but is also visited by a small species of bird.

It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if it falls or if its limbs are knocked off.
It is often referred to as the most beautiful of all flowers.
It only grows on the most fertile lands.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
