Clinging Amberbell

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This small tree grows up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 453 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a very thick, straight trunk covered in paper-thin, silky, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the soft wood is yellow.

The branches are short and thin and are covered with large amounts of crispy, giant, asymmetrical leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are yellow and amber.

In early spring, it produces many large, black blossoms with perforated petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like fish.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, crimson aril (seeds with fleshy covers).

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.

It commonly grows in large patches.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
