Twistvine

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This small tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 198 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, wonky trunk covered in rough, light brown bark, and inside, the hard wood is copper-coloured.

The tangled mess of branches are very long and thin and are covered with very large amounts of waxy, large, finger-like leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are either dark brown or hazel, with gold edges.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of medium-sized, silver blossoms with fan-like petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have an overpowering scent that smells like old books.

In late summer it forms small, light grey seed pods.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.

It actively smothers and kills off other plants.
It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
