Coilwood
Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This average-sized tree grows up to 31 meters (101.7 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 296 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a branched, wavy trunk covered in knobbly, pine-coloured bark, and inside, the hard wood is copper-coloured.
The branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with small amounts of waxy, small, sickle shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in dull orange, aquamarine and dark red varieties.
In early spring, it produces large amounts of tiny, yellow blossoms with slender, pointed petals. They are sturdy and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like cigarette smoke.
In late summer it forms tiny, silver, tough-shelled seeds.
The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
It blooms only at night.
