Copperleaf Tree

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This small tree grows up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 269 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, wonky trunk covered in fine, ridged, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is burgundy-brown.

The branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with copious amounts of fuzzy, giant, stiff, pointed leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are magenta on the sides and aquamarine at the center.

In late summer it forms large, beige, winged seeds that float and land far away.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
