Aquacotton

Flower type: Biennial (Stores water in its stem)

This modest-sized flower grows up to 2.0 feet (61 cm) tall. Its brown stem is thin and splits into 10 branching stems at the top, and the tiny, pink-red leaves are kidney-shaped with jagged edges. 16 leaves grow at the base of the stem.

Two large flowers sit at the end of each stem. The flowers are 9 cm (3.5 inches) wide, with aquamarine petals and a yellow center. The flower head is largely flat with handfuls of tightly layered narrow petals. They are hardy.

It has a delicate scent that smells like cotton, and it has excessive amounts of pollen. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also visited by one species of insect in particular.

Once on fire, it burns very quickly.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
