Blackthorn Flower
Flower type: Biennial (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This average-sized flower grows up to 1.9 feet (58 cm) tall. Its red stem is very thick and splits into dozens of branching stems at the base, and the huge, yellow-green leaves are sickle shaped with rounded edges. The leaves alternate on the stem.
Several giant flowers grow in drooping bunches like grapes. The flowers are 4 cm (1.6 inches) wide, with solid black petals decorated with pastel blue lines and a pastel green central disk. The flower head is made up of handfuls of petals in raised layers. They detach easily.
It has a delicate scent that smells like rotten meat, and it has lots of pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind and is ignored by most insect species.
The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
