Burgundy Sickle Tree
Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This average-sized tree grows up to 27 meters (88.6 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 293 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a long and flexible, angular trunk covered in ridged, burgundy bark, and inside, the hard wood is pale brown.
The sparse amount of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with large amounts of crispy, huge, sickle shaped leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are either caramel, or cream with magenta splotches.
In early spring, it produces thousands of large, dark grey blossoms with sickle shaped petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a weak scent that smells like alcohol.
In late summer it forms large, dark yellow seed pods.
The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.
