Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This average-sized shrub grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall and lives for around 91 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous branched, curved stems covered in paper-thin, rough, black with white speckled bark, and the wood inside is yellow.

The branches are very short and thin with dozens of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of tiny, needle-like, leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are indigo on the sides and black at the center, frail and fuzzy.

It produces many small, black flowers with stiff, pointed petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like freshly washed clothes. In midwinter it forms large hazel, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The leaves have medicinal properties.
