Crimson Ashflower
Flower type: Perennial (Stores water in its stem)This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.4 feet (43 cm) tall. Its green stems grow from the base of the plant in bunches of 5 and are wispy and straight, and split into dozens of branching stems at the base, and the tiny, crimson and dark yellow leaves are thin with serrated edges. The leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.
Dozens of giant flowers grow in drooping bunches like grapes. The flowers are 4 cm (1.6 inches) wide, with petals that are generally crimson; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour. The flower head is made up of several petals in raised layers. They fall easily.
It has a soft scent that smells like ashes, and it has lots of pollen, but it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator.
It can flourish even in standing water.
