Clinging Cube Flower

This small flower grows up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. Its green stem is thin, and the miniature, grey or magenta leaves are pleated with toothed edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

3 to 9 medium-sized flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 18 cm (7.1 inches) wide, with light grey petals and an aquamarine central disk. The flower head is shaped like a cube made up of dozens of widely spaced, round-tipped petals. They are very delicate.

It has a powerful scent that smells like varnish, and it has lots of pollen; it can cause severe allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator and is ignored by most insect species.
