Copperleaf

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 319 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, wavy trunk covered in wrinkled, brown bark, and inside, the light wood is copper-coloured.

The small bunches of branches are short and thin and are covered with thick bunches of fuzzy, huge, thin leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are pastel green with cyan tips.

In late summer it forms large, light brown seed pods.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.

It is suitable for making paper
